Woman in Her 20s Sexually Assaulted Near Handcross – Sussex Police Launch Investigation
Sussex Police have launched a full investigation after a woman in her 20s was reportedly sexually assaulted in Nymans Woods, close to Handcross, on Thursday morning.
The attack happened at around 7:45am when the victim was allegedly inappropriately touched by a man. The suspect then followed her into Handcross village.
Man Arrested and Released on Bail
Officers quickly responded and arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of common assault. He has since been released on bail under strict conditions while inquiries continue.
Sussex Police have put protective measures in place to support the victim and ensure her safety.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detectives are urging anyone who was near Nymans Woods or Handcross village on the morning of Thursday, 3 July, and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.
“We are continuing to support the victim and are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the report,” a Sussex Police spokesperson said.

Sussex Police have boosted patrols around the area and are reassuring locals to stay vigilant but remain calm.
Officers remind those walking alone in wooded or rural spots to keep alert and report any suspicious behaviour immediately.
