Ex-Cop Ruth Halkon Admits Forging Search Warrant Signature
Former Police Constable Ruth Halkon shocked colleagues by admitting she forged a magistrate’s signature on a search warrant back in 2018. The blatant breach came just before the warrants were due to be executed at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.
Faked Signature Lands Ex-Officer a Caution for Perverting Justice
On 19 July 2018, Halkon confessed to doctoring one of two warrants she applied for under orders from her line manager. By December 2019, she accepted a formal caution for perverting the course of justice. The offence? Copying and pasting a magistrate’s signature onto official documents.
Misconduct Found But No Dishonesty Charge
Assistant Commissioner for Professionalism Helen Ball reviewed the case thoroughly. She ruled Halkon guilty of misconduct relating to Discreditable Conduct and ignoring Orders and Instructions, but cleared her of any breach of Honesty and Integrity.
In a surprising twist, AC Ball concluded that if Halkon was still on the Metropolitan Police Service payroll, she wouldn’t have faced dismissal.
