Notorious Burglar Who Fled Hospital After Crash Jailed for Nearly Seven Years
George Dunn, 42, has finally been locked up after a fierce crime spree across Kent — even after slamming his car in a serious crash and escaping hospital custody.
Crime Wave Hits Tonbridge to Ashford
Between June and July 2025, Dunn terrorised neighbourhoods in Tonbridge, Cranbrook, Paddock Wood, and Ashford. Over just three weeks, he smashed into five homes, making off with at least £3,000 worth of loot including jewellery, watches, handbags, cash, bank cards, and even war medals.
Police tied Dunn to the crimes using CCTV footage and DNA evidence. His blood and a glove left at the scenes sealed the case.
Serious Crash Fails to Halt His Spree
In the early hours of 20 July, Dunn lost control and crashed into a wall and fence on Bayhall Road, Tunbridge Wells. He was uninsured, banned from driving, and badly hurt. When police arrived, he tried to bolt.
Fire crews rescued him from the wreckage, and paramedics whisked him to a London hospital. But before doctors could question him, Dunn discharged himself on 1 September — disappearing on the run.
Burglar Back in Action – Nabbed at Last
Just a month after leaving hospital, Dunn broke into a home in Sissinghurst Road, Biddenden. A sharp-eyed neighbour caught him climbing out a window, sparking a police manhunt.
On 15 October, officers tracked Dunn down and arrested him.
Charged with six counts of burglary plus several driving offences, Dunn pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court on 23 December. The judge also factored in eight additional burglaries.
He was slammed with a hefty prison sentence of six years and nine months — finally taking a long-awaited hit behind bars.
