Two Men Hit with 14 Charges After Gravesend Burglary Spree
Two men have been hit with 14 charges following a daring burglary and car theft spree in Gravesend. Kanie Russell and Dylan Monks, both just 19, face serious allegations after a chaotic day on 15 October 2020.
Car Theft and Dangerous Driving
Russell and Monks are accused of stealing a car from a home on Thomas Drive before cruising dangerously through Medway. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned on Mierscourt Road the same morning.
Burglary Attempts and More Charges
- Both suspects allegedly tried to break into homes on Jellico Avenue and Northridge Road on the day of the theft.
- Monks faces an additional burglary charge for a break-in on 7 October in Downs Avenue, Dartford, where another car was stolen.
- He’s also charged with two counts of aggravated vehicle taking and assaulting an emergency services worker during his arrest.
Arrests and Court Dates
The pair were arrested on 27 October and charged the same day. After a hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 28 October, Monks was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 25 November. Russell, meanwhile, was released on bail and will face the same court on the same date.
The charges include: burglary, attempted burglaries, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving without insurance or a licence, and assault on emergency workers.
