Six Arrested After Early Morning Brawl in Nottingham
A violent brawl erupted in Nottingham’s Talbot Street just before 3am on Friday, December 30, leading to six men being hauled into custody. Police officers on patrol spotted a tense stand-off between two groups and stepped in to separate them. No arrests were made initially as no offences had occurred—yet.
Fight Breaks Out, Officers Assaulted
Moments later, a full-blown fight broke out. Officers acted fast, breaking up the scuffle and arresting six suspects. Three police officers were assaulted during the arrests. One suffered a minor facial injury after being clawed, another was shoved in the face, and a third was kicked.
Details of Arrests and Charges
- An 18-year-old arrested for affray and assaulting an emergency worker.
- A 19-year-old held for affray, possession of a class B drug, and two assaults on emergency staff.
- A second 19-year-old charged with affray and possession of a class A drug.
- A 20-year-old detained on suspicion of affray.
After CCTV checks, two of the six were released without charge. The investigation is ongoing.
Police Speak Out
“This was a totally unacceptable incident and officers did well to quickly bring the disorder under control,” said Sergeant Steve Willetts of Nottinghamshire Police. “We are frustrated to report several officers were assaulted while doing their job protecting the public. This violence will not be tolerated. We’ll take tough action against anyone involved in disorder or drug offences.”
