Two Women Busted with £7,500 of Drugs in Staffordshire Walk Free from Jail
Drug Dealers Nabbed in Countywide Police Sting
Stacey Culvin, 40, and Sharnie Price, 31, both from Rugeley, were caught red-handed supplying cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis across Staffordshire. The pair were arrested on November 19, 2024, after Staffordshire Police swooped during a major crackdown on countywide drug supply.
£7,500 Worth of Class A and B Drugs Seized
Culvin was found with cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis, while Price had cocaine and cannabis on her. Police estimated the street value of the haul at around £7,500. Both women later admitted their roles in the drug supply at Stafford Crown Court in January.
No Jail Time Despite Serious Charges
Shockingly, neither woman was locked up. Culvin received a 24-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, also admitting to possession of criminal property. Price was handed a 13-month suspended sentence, suspended for 18 months.
“Stacey Culvin, 40, from Rugeley, was searched by proactive officers on November 19. We found cocaine, ketamine and cannabis. On the same day, officers searched Sharnie Price, 31, and found cocaine and cannabis. The total estimated street value of the drugs seized was believed to be around £7,500.” – Staffordshire Police spokesperson
Force Vows to Crack Down on Organised Crime
The arrests are part of a wider campaign launched in May 2023 targeting gangs behind high-harm offences. So far, over 1,000 arrests related to drugs and weapons have been made by Staffordshire’s major and organised crime teams.
“Officers from our dedicated major and organised crime teams are working hard every day to tackle the gangs responsible for high harm offences in our communities.”
Controversy Over Suspended Sentences
The decision to suspend the women’s jail time has sparked heated debate. Critics claim the punishment is too lenient for supplying dangerous drugs across an entire county. Others argue for rehabilitative approaches for non-violent offenders.
No further court action is expected, but both Culvin and Price will be subject to conditions attached to their suspended sentences.
