Dartford Shock: Eight Geese Killed in Car Crash
The quiet town of Dartford has been rocked by a gruesome scene after eight geese were killed in a vehicle crash on Anchor Boulevard. The incident was reported to Kent Police at 5:36 PM on Sunday, July 21, sparking outrage among locals and wildlife lovers.
19-Year-Old Arrested Over Geese Deaths
Just days later, on Thursday, July 25, a 19-year-old Dartford man was arrested in connection with the incident. He faces charges of animal cruelty and driving without a licence or insurance. The suspect has since been released on bail and is due back in court on Friday, October 25.
Wildlife Advocate Speaks Out
Carly Ahlen, founder of Gabo Wildlife in Kent, was devastated by the tragic loss. “I couldn’t believe what was in front of me,” she told UKNIP. The bird expert rushed to the scene from her station and described feeling “angry, upset, and distressed” at the sight of the dead geese.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Sergeant Ross Haybourne of Kent Police highlighted the community’s shock, saying: “This was a distressing incident which has caused considerable concern locally.” Police are investigating thoroughly, especially looking into claims of intentional harm to wildlife.
