Man Held Over Fatal Stabbing in Thornton Heath

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, 24 December. He remains in custody under a detention warrant valid until the morning of Wednesday, 27 December.

Victim Stabbed in Street Attack

Michael Patrick Afonso Peixoto, 27, died after being stabbed by a group of men in Mayfield Crescent, Thornton Heath on Tuesday, 19 December, at around 10:30pm.

The suspects fled in Michael’s grey Vauxhall Grand X Elite, registration DL19LVS, which has now been recovered by police.

Investigation Continues, Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Inspector Martin Thorpe, heading the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said:

“This arrest marks a key step, but there’s still a lot of work ahead.

“Thanks to those who helped us find Michael’s car. If you witnessed the attack and haven’t spoken to police yet, please come forward. Your information is vital to catching those responsible for this brutal murder.”
