Police on the Hunt for Two Women After Elderly Shoppers Targeted in Iceland Thefts

Merseyside Police have stepped up the search for two women linked to a string of purse thefts targeting elderly shoppers at Iceland stores in Liscard and Huyton. CCTV snaps released show the suspects, and cops are desperate for tips to crack these shocking crimes.

Two Elderly Victims, Two Daring Thefts

  • Huyton Incident – 23 November: A 75-year-old lady withdrew cash from Huyton Post Office before heading to Iceland on Montgomery Road. While shopping, one suspect distracted her as the other slyly nabbed her purse from her handbag.
  • Liscard Incident – 29 November: A 90-year-old woman arrived at Iceland on Liscard Way after visiting Lloyds Bank. At checkout, she found her purse, passport, sunglasses, and personal items had vanished.

Linked Crimes and Crucial CCTV Clues

Detectives believe the two thefts are connected and that the culprits know each other. CCTV footage shows the two women police are keen to identify—key to bringing the criminals to justice.

Detective Condemns ‘Callous and Despicable’ Crimes

Detective Constable Chloe Browne slammed the thefts, calling them “callous and despicable.” She highlighted how these crimes prey on vulnerable people and warned, “We are determined to catch those responsible and stop this from happening again.”
