Sussex Police Hunt Four Men Over Supermarket Distraction Thefts
Police are on the lookout for four men linked to a string of distraction thefts targeting elderly and vulnerable women across Sussex supermarkets.
How The Scam Works
- Victims enter their PIN at tills while being discreetly watched.
- A description of the victim is sent to an accomplice waiting in the car park.
- The accomplice distracts the shopper as they unpack their goods.
- Another thief steals purses and bank cards from unattended handbags.
Many victims only realise their money or cards are missing after returning home — by then, cash has often been withdrawn from their accounts.
Areas Hit and Police Appeal
Reports have come in from Crawley, Hove, Horsham, Haywards Heath, and Rustington. Investigators believe the pictured suspects could be key to cracking the case.
Police urge anyone recognising these men to contact authorities without delay.
Stay Safe This Christmas Shopping Season
