Blaze guts two Southampton homes as woman flees scene

A massive fire tore through two homes in Southampton overnight, leaving both properties wrecked. Hampshire Police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have launched a joint investigation amid suspicions of arson.

Woman spotted running from blazing homes

Emergency crews were called to Poole Road just after 4am after a blaze engulfed two neighbouring houses. Firefighters from St Mary’s, Hightown, and Eastleigh rushed to the scene to tackle the inferno. Witnesses reported seeing a woman fleeing the scene as flames raged.

“A woman was reported as running away from the address when the fire started and we are making enquiries to locate her,” said a Hampshire Police spokesperson.

Fire rips through roofs and bedrooms

The fire is believed to have started in a first-floor bedroom before spreading rapidly, consuming the roof and causing severe structural damage. Fire crews have spent the day investigating the cause, working alongside Hampshire’s arson task force to determine if the fire was deliberate.

Police continue to appeal for information and are keen to trace the woman seen fleeing the scene as part of their inquiry.
