Man Arrested Over Shocking Dundee Deaths Linked to Missing Family
Police in Dundee swooped on a property on Troon Avenue at 3.20pm on Friday, March 5, 2021. Their search was part of a probe into the disappearance of Bennylyn and two children last reported missing from South Gloucestershire on March 1.
50-Year-Old Charged as Murder Inquiry Launched
A 50-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the deaths of Bennylyn and her daughter Jellica. Police continue to investigate the whereabouts of the missing family members. The suspect is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday, March 8.
Second Missing Child Found and Supported
Good news amid the tragedy, as the second missing child from the case has been traced and is currently receiving support.
Police Call for Help as Murder Probe Intensifies
“We are now treating the disappearances as a murder investigation and I would urge anyone with any information to please come forward and speak to us,” said Detective Superintendent Graeme Mackie of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team.
“This is a complex enquiry involving local officers in Dundee alongside specialist teams from across Police Scotland.
“Bennylyn’s next of kin have been updated on the arrest and are being supported by Avon and Somerset Police. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this very difficult time.”
“There will be an increased police presence in the area for some time. We thank the local community for their cooperation.
