Police nab two men in Dartford with false plates and hunting knife after high-speed chase
Speeding suspect caught red-handed
Two men were snapped up by police in Dartford after their car, sporting fake number plates, was spotted speeding away from a petrol station on Thames Road. The drama unfolded on the evening of Wednesday, November 23, when officers in an unmarked vehicle noticed the suspicious getaway.
Failed foot escape ends in custody
Once the vehicle was stopped, the pair, aged 30 and 27, bolted on foot, but their bid to vanish was short-lived. Police quickly caught them and hauled them into custody. Inside the car, officers found stolen meat, booze, and a menacing hunting knife.
Crackdown on cross-county crime
Detective Chief Inspector Patrick Milford, head of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, stressed the fight against criminals who cross county lines: “Burglars, thieves, and other criminals do not recognise county boundaries or care which force is responsible. All they think about is making money from possessions that don’t belong to them.”
He added, “It’s vital we track those travelling into Kent to commit crime and work closely with neighbouring forces. This operation not only led to arrests but also unearthed valuable intelligence on serious organised crime. We’ll keep going for the safety of everyone in Kent.”
Ongoing investigation into stolen goods
A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed the suspects had been arrested on suspicion of theft and possession of a bladed weapon. Both men have been released on bail while inquiries continue into the incident and linked criminal activity.
