Nottingham Police Crack Down on Mansfield Road Crime

Nottingham cops from both north and south teams launched a major operation targeting Mansfield Road over two consecutive days this week. The blitz responded to mounting concerns from local leaders, residents, and businesses fed up with crime in the area.

Knife Sweeps, Stop-and-Searches, and Arrests

Uniformed and plainclothes officers ramped up patrols, carrying out knife and drug sweeps in two parks and other proactive moves to restore public confidence. They arrested four suspects for shop theft, carrying offensive weapons, and assault. Three stop-and-searches uncovered more leads, with one man arrested and swiftly recalled to prison.

“An important part of policing is listening to residents and our partners so we can act on concerns within the community, and that is what this operation was all about,” said Sergeant Ash Small of the St Ann’s neighbourhood policing team.

Mansfield Road: Hotspot for Begging, Theft and Antisocial Behaviour

This stretch of Mansfield Road has faced rising trouble from begging, drug dealing and use, shoplifting, and antisocial antics. Police say the two-day sweep was a “huge success,” not only due to arrests but also the vital intelligence gathered.

“We hope this effort reassures people who live and work on Mansfield Road that we are tackling the crime problems that matter most to them,” said Sgt Small.

Community Safety Is a Top Priority

Because Mansfield Road crosses Nottingham city north and south boundaries, officers from both teams pooled resources and expertise. The operation involved nine officers and six PCSOs in marked and unmarked cars, blending high-visibility patrols with covert investigations targeting known offenders.

“Some may think begging, antisocial behaviour, and shoplifting aren’t serious, but they impact the whole community,” warned Sgt Jordan Hinds.

“Repeated theft hits shop owners hard, forcing costly security upgrades. Antisocial behaviour, drug offences, and begging damage neighbourhoods and deter visitors and shoppers.”

“We want Mansfield Road to be the best place to live and work. Our police teams work daily to make sure it stays that way.”

The ongoing crackdown sends a clear message: Nottingham police won’t tolerate crime creeping into communities.
