Package Tossed into Prison Sparks Manhunt and Arrests

Just after 3pm yesterday, police were alerted to a suspicious package thrown onto prison grounds. A man was spotted fleeing the scene on foot, before jumping into a vehicle that sped away.

Chase Ends in Arrest Near Westbury

Officers quickly circulated the vehicle description and tracked it down in Westbury. There, a 28-year-old man from Bridgwater bolted across nearby fields but was nabbed after thorough searches.

Woman Also Held in Prison Package Probe

A 27-year-old woman from Exeter was arrested for the same offence—conveying a banned item into prison. Both suspects have been interviewed and released under investigation as inquiries continue.

Police Warn: No Nonsense on Prison Perimeter

“This was excellent work by officers who conducted extensive searches to catch a man fleeing from suspicious activity near Erlestoke prison,” said a Wiltshire Police spokesperson.

“We will keep patrolling the area and work closely with prison staff. Anyone caught trying to toss prohibited items into the prison will face consequences. This behaviour is totally unacceptable.”
