Officers have scoured the large playing fields but say the area is “too vast” to cover fully. The North Wales Police (NWP) Wrexham Town Facebook page confirmed the case is being taken “very seriously” and urged the public to help find those responsible.

“Reports to the police that a pet cat has sadly died after being strapped to a firework in the Queensway area. NWP take reports like this very seriously. Please try and help us find who was responsible,” the post said.

The police added: “We are struggling to find the cat’s body. We are told it’s on Queensway playing fields.”
