£60,000 Stolen Disabled-Adapted Boat Found by Hampshire Police!
Hampshire Constabulary pulled off a cracking recovery by tracking down a stolen Centurion Carbon Pro boat worth over £60,000. The specially adapted vessel, designed for disabled users, was nicked overnight from Ellingham Water Ski and Wakeboard Club, leaving members devastated.
Marine Unit Snaps Up Stolen Boat at Abandoned Site
The dramatic turnaround came when officers from Hampshire’s Marine Unit discovered the boat locked away at a deserted industrial site in East End. The craft, plus its trailer, vanished from the water between 6.30pm on Monday and 8.30am on Tuesday.
Project Kraken Plays Key Role in Recovery
PC Matt Gransden said: “Thanks to some brilliant intel from our marine community via Project Kraken, the Marine Unit zeroed in on the location and found the boat intact.”
He added: “Project Kraken is like a massive neighbourhood watch but on the water. We work closely with marine stakeholders, sharing info and updates to tackle crimes like this. They are our eyes and ears, and as we’ve seen today, it works.”
Owners Praise Police Efforts
Chris Mullins, club owner, was over the moon to get the boat back. “We’ve heard of other boats going missing, so for Hampshire Police to find ours, especially stored in a hangar like that, it’s fantastic. They did an excellent job.”
