Drama unfolded in Lancing this afternoon as police swooped on a property over a suspicious item. Officers were called to Tower Road around 2.30pm following reports of a potentially dangerous object.
100-Metre Safety Zone and Evacuations
Sussex Police quickly set up a 100-metre cordon around the scene. Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution while the Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team moved in to assess and make the area safe.
One Man Arrested
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Police are tight-lipped but say they’re working hard to keep disruption to a minimum and will update locals as the situation develops.
Residents in the area are urged to follow any instructions from officers and stay clear of the cordoned zone.
