Southampton police are hunting three men after a brutal stabbing on St Mary’s Street left a 29-year-old cyclist in hospital. The attack happened just after 8pm outside Tesco Express on Saturday, May 21.
Three Flee Scene After Stabbing
The victim was cycling when he was set upon by three males. He suffered multiple stab wounds to his back but is now in stable condition at the hospital. Officers report his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Two of the attackers are described as black men, and the third as white. All fled towards Golden Grove immediately after the assault.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Inspector Nick Plummer said: “We are reviewing CCTV to get clearer descriptions of the suspects and to identify the weapon used.”
He stressed the stabbing appears to be a targeted attack, likely linked to a personal dispute or illegal activity. “There is no wider threat to the community, and this incident is not connected to Operation Windless.”
DI Plummer urged locals: “We need the public’s help to catch those responsible. Violent crime will not be tolerated, and offenders will be held to account.”
