Father Dies Saving Toddler Twins at Sydney Train Station

In a devastating tragedy at Sydney’s Carlton Station, Anand Runwal, 40, lost his life while heroically trying to save his two-year-old twin daughters from a speeding train. The heartbreak unfolded on Sunday when the pram carrying the toddlers suddenly rolled onto the tracks.

Runwal jumped onto the rails, shielding his daughters. Tragically, he and one of the little girls were struck. Emergency services arrived swiftly and managed to stop the train, which wasn’t scheduled to halt at the station.

Miraculous Survival Amid Horror

Responders heard cries beneath the train and found one twin largely unharmed, lying in a narrow space between the rails where the train’s undercarriage passed over her. She and her mother, both in shock, were rushed to St. George Hospital and are now in stable condition.

Chief Paul Dunstan of New South Wales Police said: “The pram instantly started to roll towards the tracks, possibly pushed by a gust of wind. This tragic sequence led to this heartbreaking outcome.”

Community Mourns Heroic Father

The local Indian community and emergency teams remain stunned by the sudden loss. Family and friends surround the survivors in this time of deep grief.

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns praised Mr Runwal’s brave sacrifice: “In the face of this terrible accident, he gave his life to protect his children. I hope over time, they find some comfort knowing his final act was one of extraordinary courage.”

Investigation Underway

Authorities are probing the precise circumstances to prevent future tragedies at train stations. Anand Runwal’s fearless deed continues to touch hearts across Sydney, a stark reminder of parental devotion in the most desperate moments.
