Fire Crews Rush to Wroxall High Street for Electrical Emergency

Isle of Wight firefighters were scrambled to Wroxall High Street early Monday morning after builders accidentally hit an underground electrical cable.

Two teams from Newport and Shanklin stations arrived just after 7.30am to tackle arcing caused by a spade striking the power mains while digging a trench beside a thatched property.

Electric Cable Sparks Danger at Thatched Property

The underground cable was sparking dangerously, posing a serious risk. Fire crews quickly called in Scottish and Southern Electricity, who dispatched an engineer to isolate the external power supply.
