Motorcyclist Injured After Crash With Car Near Whitstable
A motorcycle rider is in hospital tonight after a crash involving a blue Ford Focus on St Johns Road, Swalecliffe, Kent. The smash happened just after 8.30pm on Tuesday (July 17th), close to The Plough Inn.
Motorcyclist Thrown From Bike
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the outskirts of Whitstable. Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance treated the rider after he was thrown from his machine.
Kent Police confirmed the rider, aged 54, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was quickly taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Road Closure Causes Delays
The crash forced police to shut a section of St Johns Road between St John Road and Plough Lane while they investigated and recovered both vehicles. The road reopened just before midnight.
Police Probe Collision
Officers are investigating the crash, which saw the Ford allegedly collide with the motorcyclist near the pub entrance. Both vehicles had to be recovered by police contractors but the collision is not thought to have caused life-threatening injuries.
Kent Police said: “A 54-year-old motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries after a crash on St Johns Road, Swalecliffe. Emergency services were called just before 8.30pm following a collision between a car and a motorcycle.”
