Repeat Shoplifter Nabs £600 Worth of Treats from Eltham M&S
Chocolate and Prosecco Heist Shocks Locals
Christopher Fawcett, a well-known shoplifter, struck again — this time at the M&S inside the BP petrol station on Bexley Road, Eltham. The 41-year-old swiped £265 worth of chocolate on October 4 last year. Not satisfied, he returned on February 11, grabbing £335 worth of chocolate and prosecco.
A History of Theft Catches Up
Fawcett is no stranger to crime. Back in 2019, he served seven weeks in jail for thefts from a BP petrol station in Chislehurst and The Co-Op in Sidcup. Earlier this year, in January, he stole £90 of fish and meat from The Co-Op on Pickford Lane, Bexleyheath. That offence earned him a conditional discharge plus £90 in compensation.
Court Hands Down Community Order
The Erith Road resident faced Bexley Magistrates’ Court on June 4 for the Eltham M&S thefts. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a community order. As punishment, he must pay £300 compensation and is banned from the M&S on Crown Woods Way for a year.
Tough Love Over Jail Time
Despite his long rap sheet, Fawcett dodged prison time this round. Instead, authorities hope the community sentence will deter him from future shoplifting sprees.
