Horrific Abuse Uncovered in Chapeltown
West Yorkshire Police’s Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Team launched an investigation in October 2022 following a harrowing report from the victim. She revealed how Cleveland Wyatt, 62, subjected her to repeated sexual assaults and brutal beatings at an address in Chapeltown, Leeds.
Wyatt Found Guilty, Accomplice Cleared
Police swooped in March 2023, arresting Wyatt and another man. After a tough trial at Leeds Crown Court earlier this year, Wyatt was convicted of multiple offences, while the co-defendant was cleared.
- One count of rape between July and September 2022
- Three further rapes during the same timeframe
- Two counts of forcing the victim to have sex with others without her consent
Despite vigorous efforts, cops were unable to identify the other men involved in the crimes.
Justice Served: Life on Sex Offenders Register
Wyatt, of Ederoyd Drive in Pudsey, was sentenced to 21 years behind bars. He will also remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life – a grim reminder of his brutal offences.
