Sex Offender Locked Up for Over 12 Years After Vile Rape and Kidnap
Keanu Vella, a registered sex offender, has been jailed for 12 years and nine months after raping a woman, holding her hostage, and breaching court orders.
Dangerous Predator Caught Out
Detective Constable Jessica Stephens from the Met’s East Area Public Protection Unit slammed Vella as a “clear danger to women.”
“Keanu Vella is a registered sex offender who cannot follow the court-ordered rules that should keep him in check,” she said. “It’s right that he is now behind bars and no longer a threat to women and girls.”
DC Stephens urged other victims to come forward, stressing the importance of reporting sex offences to help bring offenders to justice.
Shocking Details of the Crime
- Vella changed his address to Maldon Walk, Woodford Green, without telling his offender manager.
- On 10 May 2023, he arranged for a woman offering escort services to visit him.
- After their agreed appointment time ended, Vella held the victim against her will at knifepoint and raped her.
- A passer-by found the terrified woman in the street and called police.
- Vella was arrested at the scene and charged just two days later.
Long List of Sentences for Vella
- 40 weeks for failing to comply with notification requirements.
- Four years for false imprisonment.
- 12 years and nine months for rape, with an extended licence period totalling 18 years and nine months.
- An indefinite order to remain on the Sex Offenders Register.

PC Emma Porter, the victim’s Sexual Offence Liaison Officer, praised the woman’s bravery.
“She has shown incredible strength, courage, and patience throughout the court process. Now that Vella is behind bars, I hope she can begin to heal and move on with her life,” said PC Porter.
