Police Officer Seriously Injured in High-Speed Glasgow Hit-and-Run

A police officer was left seriously injured after being struck by a speeding car fleeing a police stop in Glasgow yesterday. Officers tried to engage the occupants of an Audi S3, but the car sped off, hitting the officer before escaping the scene.

Injured Officer Rushed to Hospital

The 33-year-old officer was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with severe injuries. Authorities say his condition is serious but not life-threatening. A second officer on scene escaped unscathed.

Urgent Manhunt Underway for Audi and Driver

After the collision, the Audi S3 vanished, sparking a major police manhunt. Detective Inspector Scott Robertson led the investigation and appealed to the public for help.

“Our thoughts are very much with our colleague who has suffered serious injuries in this incident. His family has been notified, and we are providing support to them and the officers present,” DI Robertson said.

He added, “This appears to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public, but anyone with dash-cam footage or information is urged to come forward.”

Call for Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage

  • Officers urge drivers with dash-cams to review footage from the area around the time of the collision.
  • Those with information should call police on 101, quoting reference 1673 of 30 August.
  • The investigation is handled by Lanarkshire Division alongside Road Policing specialists.

Police are committed to tracking down those responsible and ensuring the safety of officers and residents. Further updates will be provided as the case develops.
