Blaze Breaks Out in Industrial Oven at Gillingham Alloy Wheel Firm

Firefighters rushed to Lepsons Alloy wheel refurbishment on Railway Street Industrial Estate in Gillingham after a fire erupted inside a baking oven on Friday afternoon.

Three Engines and Height Vehicle in Action

Kent Fire and Rescue Service deployed three fire engines plus a height vehicle at around 3.15pm to tackle the flames. Fire crews in breathing apparatus quickly doused the blaze and used the height vehicle to remove part of the flue from the roof.

Work Will Go On Despite Fire

Staff at the site confirmed everyone was safe and operations will continue, albeit with a bit of reshuffling. “We are all ok, that’s the main thing,” they said.

Cause of Fire Still Unknown

Early reports suggest the fire might have started in a bin, but the exact cause remains unclear. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, according to Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The firm is now focused on getting back to business as usual.
