Knife-Wielding Robber Caught After Terrifying Broadway Rampage
Anthony Clarke, 39, sparked panic on Broadway, Accrington, in the early hours of February 8. At 6.10am, he targeted his first victim, demanding money at knifepoint. Luckily, the man escaped unharmed.
Second Victim Pushed to the Floor – Wrist Broken
Just 10 minutes later, Clarke struck again. He confronted a woman walking down Broadway, shouting for cash. When she said she had none, Clarke pulled out a knife, grabbed her coat, and threatened to stab her.
He then shoved her to the ground, causing a broken wrist. Clarke ran off with her mobile phone.
Fast Police Response Nets Swift Arrest
Police arrived promptly and arrested Clarke at 6.35am. After consulting the Crown Prosecution Service, he was charged with robbery, attempted robbery, and possession of a bladed article in public.
Clarke, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty and was locked up for five years and four months at Preston Crown Court last week.
