Bedroom Blaze Rips Through Croydon Home – Woman Escapes Unharmed
Fire Rips Through First Floor Bedroom
A bedroom on the first floor of a mid-terraced house in Croydon was gutted by fire this morning. The blaze tore through the room before the London Fire Brigade arrived, destroying it completely. Thankfully, one woman managed to flee the property unharmed. Authorities reported no injuries.
Candle Left Unattended Sparks Devastating Fire
Investigations suggest the fire started accidentally after a candle was left burning unattended. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson warned:
“Candles, incense sticks and oil burners are one of the most common causes of fire. It’s really important that you never leave a candle unattended and keep them away from anything that can easily catch fire.”
“You should also ensure they are put in a heat-resistant holder and placed on a stable surface, so they won’t be knocked over.”
Firefighters Swiftly Bring Blaze Under Control
The Brigade received the emergency call at 9.27am and controlled the fire by 10.11am. Four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters from Woodside, Croydon, and Norbury stations rushed to the scene to battle the flames.
Residents are urged to practise candle safety to prevent similar disasters.
