Fire Rips Through Kensington Flats at Dawn
A blaze broke out early Friday on Marloes Road in Kensington, tearing through a ground-floor flat in a house converted into apartments. The London Fire Brigade swung into action, dispatching six fire engines and around 40 firefighters to tackle the inferno.
Swift Rescue and Firefight
The alarm sounded at 1:04 AM, with crews from Kensington, Chelsea, Paddington, and Hammersmith stations rushing to the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a trapped woman via an internal staircase. She received on-site treatment from the London Ambulance Service.
To get the upper hand, a 32-metre turntable ladder was used as an observation tower, giving crews a bird’s eye view to control the blaze. By 2:03 AM, the fire was under control.
Accidental Blaze Caused by Halogen Light
Investigators traced the cause to textiles that had been placed dangerously close to a halogen light, igniting the materials. The London Fire Brigade has confirmed the fire was accidental.
Fire Safety Warning for Londoners
The brigade is urging residents to keep flammable items away from heat sources and stay vigilant to prevent similar fires. For expert fire safety tips, visit the London Fire Brigade website or contact local fire safety officers.
