FCDO Issues Fresh Travel Warnings for Turkey, Mexico, Thailand & Egypt

The Foreign Office (FCDO) is sounding the alarm for travellers heading to 226 countries worldwide. Their mission? To keep Brits safe by sharing vital info on entry rules, security risks, and safety precautions.

With fresh alerts out for parts of Turkey, Mexico, Thailand, and Egypt, now’s the time to check before you jet off.

Turkey: Danger Near Syrian Border

Turkey remains a hit with UK tourists, but the FCDO warns off certain trouble spots. Avoid these areas:

  • Within 10km of the Syria border
  • Sirnak city
  • Hakkari Province

Conflict and security risks run high here. Travellers are urged to steer clear for their own safety.

Mexico: Stay Clear of Border Trouble

Lots of Brits flock to Mexico each year. But the FCDO flags several no-go zones due to rising safety concerns:

  • Areas near the Guatemalan border
  • Parts of Chihuahua, Colima, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas states

Exercise extreme caution and avoid these regions to dodge any risks.

Thailand: Terror Threats in the South

Most of Thailand’s golden beaches are safe, but southern provinces are a different story. Watch out for:

  • Pattani
  • Yala
  • Narathiwat
  • Southern Songkhla

Heightened terrorist activity puts visitors in danger. Best to avoid these areas altogether.

Egypt: Caution Near Libya Border

Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh are still holiday hotspots. But the FCDO warns against travel within 20km of the Egypt-Libya border and parts of North Sinai. Also avoid parts of South Sinai and the Ismailiyah Governorate.

Stay clear of these flashpoints for a safer visit.
