Blaze Breaks Out at Bexleyheath Care Home Hairdresser
A fierce fire has erupted at a hairdresser located within the Park View Care Home on Woolwich Road, Bexleyheath. The London Fire Brigade scrambled eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters to the scene to tackle the blaze.
Mass Evacuation and Dramatic Rescues
Before firefighters arrived, roughly 30 people made their own escape from the building. On arrival, crews in breathing apparatuses swiftly rescued four people trapped inside and led three others to safety amid heavy smoke on the ground floor.
“On the ground floor, there was heavy smoke logging,” a London Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed. “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued four people from the building. Firefighters led three more people to safety.”
Emergency Services Flood the Scene
Firefighters from Sidcup, Eltham, Bexley, East Greenwich, and surrounding stations are battling the fire. Police and ambulance crews are also on site.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown, with investigations ongoing.
Road Closures and Bus Diversions in Place
The public is urged to avoid Woolwich Road while emergency teams fight the fire. The road is partially closed.
Bus routes 301 and 401 are being diverted via Mayplace Road West, Erith Road, and Long Lane to ease disruption.
