UK and US Lead International Strikes on Houthi Targets in Yemen
British and American forces, backed by a global coalition, launched fresh airstrikes on eight Houthi-controlled sites in Yemen last night. The coalition includes 27 countries, from Albania to New Zealand, all united in a decisive military push.
Crackdown on Houthi Attacks in the Red Sea
The international coalition slammed the Houthis for “continued illegal and reckless attacks” on shipping lanes in the Red Sea. Their joint statement made clear the strikes aim to cripple the Houthis’ ability to threaten global trade and innocent sailors without sparking wider conflict.
“The strikes were designed to disrupt and degrade the capability of the Houthis to continue their attacks on global trade and innocent mariners from around the world while avoiding escalation,” the statement confirmed.
Houthi Retaliation Tied to Gaza Conflict
The Houthis fired back, claiming their attacks target the air and ground offensives in Gaza after Hamas’ October 7 assault. Escalations have seen them deploy drones, rockets, and even helicopters to launch militants onto commercial vessels.
