A woman, a child, and an infant have been taken to hospital following a fierce house fire in Avery Hill this morning.
Half of Ground Floor Destroyed in Holland Gardens Blaze
Firefighters rushed to a two-storey home on Holland Gardens at 11:10am after reports of a blaze. The fire ripped through half of the ground floor, leaving severe damage.
Smoke Inhalation Victims Escape Before Fire Brigade Arrives
The trio suffered smoke inhalation but had already escaped the property by the time the London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived. They were then taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service for treatment.
25 Firefighters Bring Fire Under Control Within an Hour
Crews from Sidcup, Lee Green, Bexley, and Plumstead fire stations tackled the inferno. The fire was brought under control just before 12:30pm after a fierce battle involving four fire engines and around 25 firefighters.
Investigation Underway Into Cause of Avery Hill Blaze
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said:
“Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled the house fire on Holland Gardens in Avery Hill. Half of the ground floor was destroyed. One adult woman, one child, and one infant suffering from smoke inhalation left the property before our arrival and were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. The fire was called in at 11:10am and under control by 12:29pm. Crews from Sidcup, Lee Green, Bexley, and Plumstead stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
