Isle of Wight Overhauls Waste Collections to Boost Recycling

The Isle of Wight is set to shake up its rubbish collections from 2 May. The move aims to slash landfill waste and ramp up recycling rates.

New Bins and Bags for Residents

Under a fresh council contract with Amey, every home will get new recycling kit. You’ll either get a green wheeled bin or a green gull-proof sack — if you already have a bin, you keep it.

Green bin users will also receive a black insert box specifically for paper and cardboard. This system is designed to make sorting easier and boost recycling efficiency.

What This Means for You

  • Recycling collections start 2 May
  • Keep your current green bin if you have one
  • New paper/card insert box with bins
  • Green gull-proof sacks supplied where bins aren’t allocated

This revamped setup puts the Isle of Wight at the forefront of local recycling efforts, cutting waste and helping the environment.
