HGV Driver Jailed for Going on the Booze Behind the Wheel

Jack Marlow, 26, pleaded guilty after refusing to stop for police on the M62. Officers were called on 7 July following public reports of his dangerous driving.

Caught Cold: Booze and Brakes Don’t Mix

Marlow finally pulled over near junction 6, Tarbuck Island. Police found multiple cans of alcohol in his cab. Breath tests showed Marlow blew 113 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath – over three times the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

Justice Served: Jail Time and Driving Ban

The HGV driver was jailed and banned from driving for 118 weeks. On top of that, he was hit with £128 in court costs.

“Marlow was more than three times over the limit and was in no fit state to be behind the wheel of a HGV which can be deadly in the wrong hands,” said Inspector Anton Sullivan of Cheshire Police’s roads and crime unit.

“Thanks to quick-thinking motorists who reported his driving, we arrested him swiftly and brought him to justice. It’s highly likely their actions prevented a serious crash.”
