Emergency services from South East Coast Ambulance and National Highways Traffic Officers rushed to the scene. Meanwhile, lanes 3 and 4 on the northbound side are also closed, causing gridlock.

Diversions in Place – Follow the Hollow Diamond
Motorists should take note of these diversion routes to avoid delays:
- Leave the M25 at Junction 9 (Leatherhead)
- Take the A243 southbound exit at Junction 9
- At Knoll Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A24
- Continue on A24 towards Horsham
- At Great Daux Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A264
- Stay on A264 till you reach M23 Junction 11 (Pease Pottage Interchange)
- Traffic heading for Gatwick Airport should enter M23 northbound and exit at Junction 9
Drivers facing this closure should allow plenty of extra travel time, consider alternative routes, or delay their journeys if possible.
