Eight Fire Engines and Specialist Crews Battle Fierce Flames
The London Fire Brigade rushed eight fire engines to the scene after multiple 999 calls came in around 3pm. Firefighters arrived to find a wooden beam ablaze inside the busy fast-food outlet, with flames spreading rapidly.
Specialist equipment, including a 32-metre turntable ladder and two Fire Rescue Units equipped for Extended Duration Breathing Apparatus (EDBA), are in action as crews fight the intense blaze under challenging conditions.
Major Incident Declared Over Hazardous Materials
Fire chiefs have confirmed the presence of hazardous materials at the site, escalating the incident’s scale and forcing heightened safety measures. A rendezvous point has been set up at nearby Nicholas Road to coordinate the multi-agency operation.
Local police have cordoned off the surrounding streets and urge residents to steer clear of the area.

Fire in Mixed-Use Building with Flats Above Restaurant
The blaze is centred in a building housing Wendy’s on the ground floor with flats above. Firefighters report ducts running from the first floor to the roof are fully alight.
The London Fire Brigade was alerted at 2:41pm, mobilising crews from several nearby stations including Sutton, Wallington, Mitcham, Wimbledon, and New Malden. A 32-metre turntable ladder from Clapham is also deployed.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and will be investigated once the scene is safe.
