Tayumur Raja Sentenced to Nine Years
On Wednesday 22 April 2026, Tayumur Raja, 29, from Abbeyhills Road, Oldham, was locked up for nine years at Bolton Crown Court. He was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl by digital penetration. Raja is now on the Sex Offender Register for life.
Victim’s Nightmare After Nightclub
The victim, then just 17, left an Oldham nightclub in the early hours of 25 September 2021. At around 4.15am, she got into what she thought was her second taxi, after the first dropped her off at St Mary’s Way and Yorkshire Street junction. Without cash, she tried to pay using her phone and called another cab.
Fake Taxi Driver’s Sick Attack
But the vehicle that pulled up was driven by Raja. He took her to a car park on Park Road where he sexually assaulted her. Luckily, the young woman broke free and ran to a nearby supermarket, where staff came to her aid.
Cold-Blooded Denial and Conviction
Raja showed no remorse during police questioning. At one point, he even laughed when told the accusation was serious. He denied the charge and claimed the victim consented. However, her brave testimony and police evidence proved otherwise. On 6 March 2026, a jury found Raja guilty. Justice was served.
