Deadly Crash on M54 Near Codsall Shuts Motorway for Hours
Tragedy struck just after 6.30pm on Sunday on the westbound M54 near Codsall. Emergency services rushed to the scene after a car smashed into a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and then flipped onto the carriageway.
The male driver inside the car suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorway remained closed for over eight hours as police conducted a crash investigation and cleared the wreckage.
Serious Collision on A5 at Weeford Leaves Two Critically Injured
The horror continued early this morning around 6.30am on the A5 between Wall Island and Weeford. A crash involving two HGVs and a car left two people badly hurt.
- A male lorry driver was trapped and rescued by fire crews. He suffered life-changing injuries and was rushed to hospital.
- The car driver sustained life-threatening injuries. Advanced trauma doctors stabilised him at the scene and accompanied him to a nearby trauma centre for urgent treatment.
The A5 was closed for roughly six hours as emergency teams and police carried out investigations.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Staffordshire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed either crash to come forward. Witnesses can call 101 to assist investigations into these serious collisions.
