Swindon Town Snap Up Rising Star Oscar Massey
Swindon Town have wasted no time in building for the future, making 18-year-old Oscar Massey their first signing under new First-Team Head Coach Scott Lindsey.
From Truro to The County Ground
Massey’s football journey began at Truro City before joining Plymouth Argyle’s Academy at just 10 years old. Showing early promise, he featured for their Under-18s at the tender age of 13. His talents didn’t go unnoticed, earning him England Under-15 honours alongside Tottenham hotshot Dane Scarlett.
Despite recently being released by Argyle, Swindon had been tracking Massey’s progress for some time and pounced to secure his signature.
Excited to Prove Himself
“I’m really excited to be joining Swindon Town. This is a fantastic club, and the new manager is extremely ambitious and believes in giving young players opportunities, which was a major factor in my decision to join,” said Oscar after signing his first professional contract.
“I’m a versatile striker who can play on both wings. I love to run, I’m comfortable with both feet, but most importantly, I’m really keen to develop and prove that I deserve a chance in the first team, which hopefully I can do this season.”
High Praise from Swindon Boss and Staff
Scott Lindsey is full of confidence about Massey’s future at the club. “We are really pleased to have Oscar onboard as a first-year professional. He’s an aggressive and prolific goal scorer who loves to get at defenders, and he’s got a proven track record at youth level. I’m excited to work with him and play a key role in his development.”
Technical Director Sandro Di Michele added, “Oscar is a great prospect, and we’re really excited to have him here at The County Ground. I’m confident he’ll begin to realise his full potential while working with Scott Lindsey and the coaching staff.”
