Woman in Her 50s Killed in Hit-and-Run on Newark Road
A woman in her 50s has died after being hit by a car on Newark Road, Ollerton, at around 10.25pm on 8 December. The driver – suspected of fleeing the scene without stopping – left the victim fatally injured. Paramedics arrived shortly after but sadly pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses
Nottinghamshire Police are urgently hunting the hit-and-run driver. Sergeant Mark Baker from the Serious Collision Unit said:
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends following this tragic incident. This will no doubt be incredibly distressing for them. We are deploying specialist officers to support the family at this difficult time.”
He added that police are exploring several lines of inquiry and urged anyone who saw what happened to come forward immediately.
“We also want to hear from any drivers who were in the area and may have captured dash-cam footage that could help our investigation.”
Road Closures in Place as Investigation Continues
Newark Road remains closed between Kelsey Avenue and Forest Crematorium in Ollerton while police continue their work at the scene.
