Gravesend Man Locked Up for 26 Years Over Child Sex Crimes
Matthew Jenkins, 34, from Gravesend, has been slammed with a brutal 26-year sentence for horrifying child sex offences, including rape. The predator targeted youngsters over six years, from 2015 to 2021, before Kent Police finally hauled him in August 2021.
Shocking Evidence Found on Devices
Police seized Jenkins’ phones and laptops, uncovering a vile stash of over 350 indecent images and videos of children. Some of the material was so horrendous it ranked in the worst categories. Jenkins later pleaded guilty to all charges at Woolwich Crown Court.
Heavy Prison Term and Licence on Release
On November 6, 2024, Jenkins was handed an 18-year prison sentence. He must serve at least 12 years behind bars before being considered for parole. After release, he faces another eight years on licence, keeping him under strict supervision.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage
“Jenkins is a manipulative predator who abused young children for his own sexual gratification,” said Detective Constable Jack Evans, who led the investigation. “His depraved actions will have a lasting impact on the victims. I want to commend their courage in reporting these crimes to the police.”
“I hope this long sentence helps the victims begin to heal from their terrible ordeal.”
