Alkali Attack Sparks Alarm in Margate

Detectives are hunting witnesses after a bizarre assault rocked Margate in the early hours of Saturday, 9 November 2024.

Chaos on Mansion Street

Just before 1:15 a.m., a scuffle broke out on Mansion Street, linking Fort Road to The Parade. During the disturbance, a man reportedly sprayed a group with a strong alkali substance.

Four victims suffered nasty irritation, with reddening on their faces and chests. Police swooped on the scene, seizing a bottle believed to contain the corrosive liquid.

Police Release CCTV, Appeal for Info

Kent Police have now released CCTV images of a man they want to speak with. He may hold vital clues to cracking the case.

“Anyone recognising this man or with information should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/190172/24,” urged officers.

Alternatively, tips can be handed over anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555111 or via their online form.
