A banned driver has been jailed after a wild police chase in Walsall ended with him smashing into a police car multiple times.
Reckless Chase Sparks Chaos in Birchills
On the evening of Wednesday, 17 December, officers spotted a Vauxhall Astra with cloned number plates tearing through Birchills. The driver, 41-year-old Peter O’Neil, refused to stop.
Instead of pulling over, O’Neil drove dangerously, even reversing to ram a police car four times in a desperate bid to escape arrest. His reckless spree ended after officers chased him on foot and finally caught him.
Courts Slam Jailed Driver with Tough Sentence
O’Neil, from Parkes Street, Walsall, faced Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday. He pleaded guilty to:
- Dangerous driving
- Driving while disqualified
- No insurance
- Failing to stop for police
The court gave him a 12-month prison sentence and slapped a four-year driving ban on him.
