A persistent East Kent shoplifter has been hit with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after swiping hundreds of pounds worth of booze, food, and other goods during a crime spree.

Shannon Rossiter’s Theft Spree Uncovered

Shannon Rossiter was charged with five thefts committed over just two months. She brazenly walked into several stores, stuffed baskets with items, then boldly walked out without paying. One of her boldest acts happened on 14 October 2025 at the Co-op in Sturry. Around 8pm, Rossiter filled a basket with cleaning products and cans of alcohol. Staff grew suspicious as she headed to the exit without paying. When they blocked the doors, Rossiter turned violent—assaulting two employees before making a run for it. The store lost £88.

A String of Thefts Across Canterbury and Whitstable

  • 15 September: Stole four sandwiches worth £13 from Tesco, Sturry.
  • 2 November: Snatched alcohol worth £11.80 from Co-op, Whitstable.
  • 3 November: Returned to steal more food and drinks valued at £15.35.
  • 16 November: Stole four gift sets valued at £222 from Boots in Canterbury.

On 16 November, cops caught Rossiter in a Waitrose car park with one stolen gift set on her and three more hidden nearby. She was promptly arrested.

Justice Served: Two-Year Criminal Behaviour Order

After her arrest, police found she was wanted for multiple thefts across Canterbury. Rossiter pleaded guilty to all charges at Margate Magistrates’ Court on 18 November 2025. Then, on 2 April 2026 at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court, she was handed a tough two-year CBO. She’s banned from all Co-op stores in Kent and from entering retail premises with specific banned individuals.

Inspector Daniel Fordom, Canterbury Police, said: “While Rossiter avoided jail time, the detailed evidence provided by staff and officers was key to securing this long-term CBO. It sends a strong message: violent, repeated shoplifting won’t be tolerated. We’ll keep partnering with retailers and the courts to get more orders like this.”
