Seven Hurt as Double-Decker Bus Crashes into Shop Scaffolding in Maida Vale
A double-decker bus careered off the road and smashed into scaffolding outside a shop on Harrow Road, Maida Vale, injuring seven people earlier today.
Chaos on Harrow Road: Bus Hits Lamppost, Bollards and Scaffolding
The crash happened just before 2:30 PM when the number 18 bus, packed with passengers, first smashed a lamppost and bollards before slamming into scaffolding outside West 9 Food & Wine.
Emergency teams, including London Ambulance Service and the Met Police, raced to the scene.
Police Confirm Injuries, Call for Witnesses
“Police were called at 14:18hrs on Tuesday, 16 July to reports of a bus colliding with scaffolding on Harrow Road, W9. Six people, including the bus driver, were treated at the scene. None of the injuries appear serious,” said the Met Police.
“Road closures and safety cordons remain in place. No arrests have been made. Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage should call 101 quoting 4316/16JUL or message @MetCC on X.”

Photos from the scene show the bus’s front smashed, windscreen and driver’s window shattered, alongside a toppled lamppost and dented bollards.
A London Ambulance spokesperson said: “We treated seven patients, took four to hospital, and discharged three at the scene. Our first paramedics arrived within five minutes.”
Onlookers gathered, shocked by the wreckage and the chaos left behind.
The cause of the crash is still unknown. The road remains closed as investigations continue.
Police urge anyone with information or videos to come forward immediately.
