Fire Breaks Out in Gas Unit Near Tunbridge Wells

Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to tackle a blaze in a gas unit beside a commercial building on Silverdale Road, Tunbridge Wells, this evening.

The alarm was raised at 5:23pm, sending two fire engines to the scene. Firefighters used high-pressure hose reel jets to douse the flames and swiftly brought the situation under control.

Safety Cordon and No Injuries

Once the fire was extinguished, crews set up a safety cordon around the area. They awaited a gas safety engineer from Southern Gas Network to inspect the unit. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the gas unit with no damage to nearby properties.

“Our teams acted swiftly to extinguish the fire and secure the area. We worked closely with the gas safety engineer to ensure the site was made safe,” a Kent Fire spokesperson said.
