Murder Investigation Launched After Fatal Stabbing in Lewisham
A 74-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a shocking incident at a Lewisham home early Friday morning. Police were called to an address on Wild Goose Drive, SE14, at 4:55am following welfare concerns raised by the London Ambulance Service.
Man Found with Knife Injuries – Dies at Scene
Officers arrived quickly and found the elderly victim suffering serious knife wounds. Despite paramedics’ efforts, the man was pronounced dead at 5:57am. His family have been informed, but formal identification and post-mortem examinations are still pending.
23-Year-Old Arrested – Known to Victim
A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station. Police confirmed the suspect and victim knew each other, and no other suspects are being sought in connection with this isolated case.
Detective Inspector Steven Keogh said: “At this very early stage we retain an open mind as to the circumstances, but I can confirm we are not looking for anyone else. This involved one victim in an isolated incident.”
