Fatal Crash on A33 in Reading: Police Hunt Witnesses
Thames Valley Police are urgently calling for witnesses after a deadly crash on the A33 in Reading this past weekend.
Black Astra Loses Control, Driver Dies
The tragedy struck at around 4:06pm on Saturday, April 20. Two cars – a black Vauxhall Astra and a blue VW Golf – were travelling south on the A33 between Mereoak Park and Ride and Wellington Country roundabout when the Astra’s driver lost control.
The 26-year-old man from Basingstoke veered off the road, crashing into trees. Emergency teams rushed to the scene but the driver was sadly confirmed dead. His family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
Passenger Seriously Injured; Three Arrested
The Astra’s passenger, a teenage woman from Reading, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Meanwhile, two men aged 26 and 34 from Basingstoke and a 24-year-old woman from Woking have been arrested and are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Police Plea for Dashcam Footage and Witnesses
“We are conducting a thorough investigation into this tragic incident. Our thoughts remain with the family of the deceased during this difficult time,” said Inspector Justin Thomas from the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit.
